-UNION ELIGIBILITY: Adjuncts become eligible to join the RIC/AFT Adjunct Union if they complete 6 load hours (excludes applied music) within the two previous consecutive years. -Upon hire, candidate will be required to provide an official transcript of highest degree earned. -Candidates should indicate in their cover letter which area(s) they are interested in teaching. -Candidates are required to provide digital images of personal and student work, submitted as either a .pdf file or a link. Position Overview

The Department of Art at Rhode Island College provides a dynamic environment for learning. Students and faculty maintain high standards in a competitive yet supportive community. The Department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) and by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The Department of Art, which has approximately 365 majors and fifteen full-time faculty members, is housed in its own state-of-the-art 52,000ft2 building.

The full-time faculty rely on a talented & competent “pool” of adjunct faculty to teach a variety of studio courses. Instructors accepted into our Adjunct Pool will be approved for teaching a specific course or courses, but may not be assigned a course immediately.

Essential Duties

The individual will teach introductory courses in general drawing and/or two-dimensional design.

MFA degree and experience teaching in a foundations curriculum.
