Position Summary

The individual will teach Human Anatomy (BIOL 231) and Human Physiology (BIOL 335), Lecture and Laboratory; advise Health Science students and Medical Imaging students; establish and maintain an active research program that engages undergraduate and graduate (MA and certificate) students; engage in scholarly research and professional activities and participate in College and Departmental activities.

Essential Duties

• Teach Human Anatomy (BIOL 231) and Human Physiology (BIOL 335), Lecture and Laboratory
• Advise Health Science students and Medical Imaging students
• Establish and maintain an active research program that engages undergraduate and graduate (MA and certificate) students
• Engage in scholarly research and professional activities
• Participate in College and Departmental activities

Occasional Duties

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chair.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Effective use of available instructional technology
• Evidence of productive research involving undergraduate students

Required Qualifications

Education: Ph.D, M.D., or D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) in relevant field

Experience: Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in Health Science related courses in an undergraduate setting

Preferred Qualifications

• Established record of support of undergraduate and/or graduate research
• Evidence of effective undergraduate teaching
• Demonstrated grant writing skills
• Willingness to take on leadership roles at the college
• Experience with nontraditional students and with an ethnically diverse student population.
Willingness to serve in a faculty leadership role as part of the RIC shared governance model following awarding of tenure.

Environmental Conditions

Faculty members routinely deal with electronic and other scientific equipment and chemicals appropriate to the discipline.
