Position Summary

The Department of Economics and Finance, which has approximately 150 majors, seven full-time faculty members, and offers more than 30 course sections per semester, is housed in the School of Business with the Department of Accounting and CIS, and the Department of Management and Marketing. Class size is limited to a maximum of 30 students. More than 1,000 students major in School of Business programs.

Responsibilities for the position include teaching undergraduate courses, advising students, participating in College and Departmental activities, and engaging in scholarly research and professional activities.

Essential Duties

• Teach undergraduate courses in finance.
• Advise students.
• Engage in scholarly research and professional activities.
• Participate in College and Departmental activities.

Occasional Duties

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chair of the Economics and Finance Department.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

-Good teaching skills.
-Demonstrated ability for academic research.

Required Qualifications

Education: Ph.D. or DBA in Finance.

Experience: College-level teaching experience in finance.

Preferred Qualifications

-Teaching and research interests are open.
-Willingness to serve in a faculty leadership role as part of the RIC shared governance model following awarding of tenure.

Environmental Conditions

Teaching/instruction is performed in a traditional classroom setting.

Final appointment is subject to available funding

-The doctoral degree is required for appointment and must be completed prior to the beginning of service.
